After a three-year hiatus, a new fragrance: On the Possibility of Combining Diverse Olfactory Experiences with a Minimalist Style: An Experimental Report Based on the Concept of Green Notes — If plants were our language.

Long time no see, friends. A new fragrance is finally out. It has been two years since my last update—how is everyone doing?

During this time away, perhaps some of you occasionally caught glimpses of my updates. As an independent perfumer, my career seems to be gradually getting on track. Many friends are happy for me, while others hope I can focus more on my own creations. To be honest, the process of being "seen" by more and more fragrance lovers has brought both joy and confusion. I am still struggling to figure out whether I should stride forward or take a timely break to recharge. I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions.

All that aside, I think this new work can, to a certain extent, represent the focus and reflections of my leisure time over the past few years:
As the "second sex" in the sensory world, olfaction always needs to be translated through words—first seen, and then smelled. Yet, as a medium of expression, it should not be confined to a fixed paradigm. Those who truly believe that olfaction can express should understand that "communicative clarity" is not the ultimate goal of expression, and language, too, has its eternal boundaries.

As for an academic paper—which is the ultimate display of research requiring extreme precision—I attempted to wipe away its words and use pure scent as the main text. (In other words, if you are interested in this "report," please try to "read" it with your nose.)

Plants usually communicate by emitting fragrances, and the organs that interpret plant language (olfactory receptors) are distributed throughout the entire plant. If we blend and combine raw materials from different plants and different parts, can we achieve a minimalist style based on human olfactory aesthetics? The experimental method adopted the perfumer's embodied experience, literature review, and targeted screening of plants, followed by short-cycle, multiple permutations and combinations. Practical significance: None.
