We are proud to introduce our first fragrance collaboration with Taigrance, our retail partner based in Taiwan. Olive Tree is inspired by the classic Taiwanese folk song of the same name, with lyrics written by the legendary female author, Sanmao. This April, Chris, the founder of Taigrance, visited us in Kuala Lumpur, where we spent time exchanging ideas and exploring the olfactory vision behind Olive Tree. Together, we embarked on the creative process, from carefully selecting the finest materials and thoughtfully pairing each ingredient, to blending them drop by drop and refining the composition along the way. It was a process of discovery and collaboration, in which we drew upon our knowledge and perfumery expertise to translate Chris’s vision into a finished composition. Every material, accord and nuance was considered with care, gradually shaping Olive Tree into its final form.
Chris envisioned a composition inspired by the beauty and poetry of this beloved folk song. Together, we explored the theme of Olive Tree, which is about a journey of wandering beyond the familiar, drawn by a longing for distant landscapes and an elusive ideal that exists somewhere between reality and dream. The olfactory journey begins with basil and olive leaves, evoking the image of a Mediterranean olive grove bathed in the warmth of a distant sun. Beneath this sunlit verdure, Taiwanese black tea emerges with a gentle bitterness and astringency, introducing a subtle hint of the lyricist’s homeland, the point of origin from which the journey begins. This is the moment that Chris described to us as entering the dream, the point where the boundaries between reality and reverie begin to dissolve, echoing the dreamlike imagery of the song lyrics. As the journey moves further into this imagined landscape, the heart of the composition begins to take shape. Olive blossom, jasmine, iris, tree moss and amyris emerge in delicate layers, their floral nuances woven together with transparent woods and delicate mossy tones. The result is our interpretation of Chris’s olfactory vision. A fragrance that transports us into a vast and ethereal dreamscape, where flowers, trees and the surrounding air seem to dissolve into one another. As the dream unfolds, these elements gradually draw the imagination towards the vision of a faraway olive tree. It is not simply a destination, but an elusive ideal, the very object of longing that gives meaning to the wandering at the heart of the song. The composition finally settles upon a foundation of olive fruit, ambergris, ambrette seed and musk. Together, these notes bring the fragrance to its completion while continuing the emotional arc of the song. The olive tree remains just beyond reach, suspended between memory, longing and dream. Perhaps this is what makes the journey meaningful. Not the certainty of arrival, but the beauty of continuing to wander towards the ideals we yearn for.
Due to the nature and quality of the raw materials used, the scent will continue to age beautifully in the bottle with time when properly stored. It is normal to have some sediments/separations in this scent due to the nature of the raw materials used. Just gently shake well before applying it.

【Introduction to " Olive Tree"】
You step into a dream—a dream woven from musical notes, a world filled with melody both inside and out. Originally titled "The Little Donkey," this folk song was inspired by Echo's distant gaze across the Spanish plains, watching a little donkey gallop through the wilderness. The scene was as poetic as a fairy tale, running straight toward freedom. In terms of artistic conception, perhaps everyone harbors an olive tree in their heart; yet that tree is never in the present, but always in the distance. Even so, people are still willing to trek toward it, wandering for a lifetime. Perhaps we pursue this tree to lose ourselves in the journey of searching; or perhaps, through this exile, we might ultimately return to the origin of our souls. Where do we come from in life? Where do we go in death? Leaving one olive tree, we step into another cycle of reincarnation, continuing to wander and being tempered repeatedly through one life choice after another.
【Cultural Connotation of Olive Tree】
Throughout the long river of religion and culture, the olive tree has always been an eternal symbol of peace and rebirth. From the flash of green in the Bible that a dove brought back to the ark, heralding the end of the deluge, to the gift bestowed upon the city-state by Athena in Greek mythology, symbolizing prosperity and wisdom, the olive tree bridges myth and reality. The oil extracted from it has even been named "holy oil," flowing through sacred rituals and condensing into an indispensable spiritual totem of Western and Middle Eastern civilizations.
【Emotional Connection of Olive Tree】
For many Chinese people, it represents a journey of drifting (coming from afar), a yearning for aspiration (breaking away from constraints and wandering), and a process of re-examining oneself (contentment).
【Afterword: The Creative Process in Kuala Lumpur】
Crafting a fragrance is never easy, but it always gently settles and calms the soul. It was a great honor to meet Emrys Au and Eugene Au, the founders of Auphorie, in Kuala Lumpur on April 1, 2026, to engage in an in-depth exchange on scent creation. During our discussion, filled with passion and inspiration, we sparked many wonderful ideas. We deeply realized that while precise ratios are crucial in perfumery, the flow of emotion often occupies the core—scent is much like a dopamine that fits our emotions. On the path of creation, even if a drop of fragrance material is accidentally added or missed, the final result can still bring surprise and beauty. Isn't this just another way of experiencing life? Let us encourage one another. May you all come to love this fragrance, "Olive Tree."
